Probably the most liked of the three games never released in North America, Final Fantasy V was the most recent and most advanced of the three. It ran on the Super Famicom, the Japanese equivalent to the Super Nintendo. It was released on December 6th 1992. At the time the graphics of this game were quite spectacular. Sound and music were amazing creating new standards for FF games. But unfortunately FFV wouldn't see N. American gamers until a few years later once it finaly got translated as a ROM.

Your games starts off at Tycoon castle where King Tycoon informs his daughter, Princess Lenna, that he is going off on a mission. Time passes by and then, the wind stops. You then get your first character, the noble Butz. He is the only Character you actually get to name, so name wisely. You must then travel into the Tycoon Meteor area to begin your quest.

In this game there are three main worlds that you get to travel to. Each world takes approximatly 13 hours to beat with level gaining. Over the course of the game you will aquire Jobs. You can use these jobs to change your characters abilities. IE: If you wanted to summon creatures, you would need to change the job of the character you wanted to cast the spell to a caller. IE2: If you wanted to cast a spell like fire or lightning, you would need to change the job of the character in question to that of either a black or red wizard. This system is unique to FFV and is very simple and easy to use. Also along the course of the game, you get to gain ability points. These points in turn will give you abilities. Once you have these abilities you will be able to equip them in your menu during battle. That way you can have the best of both worlds by being able to have the abilities of a black wizard, that you have learned through ability points and your regular abilities of whatever job you happen to be.

There is rumor that SquareSoft will be porting FFV too the Playstation. Hopefully they will do so and this time around bring it here. They have almost completed the FFVI port for the Playstation and it is too my knowledge that they have added in beautiful cut-scenes that are like the ones that were in FFVII. If we all keep Our fingers crossed this might happen.
